Zagreb, 20 October, 2015

A Little School of Aviation was organized for elementary school students by the Croatian national carrier in its Technical Center for Aircraft Maintenance at the Zagreb International Airport. The students had a unique opportunity to see the exterior and interior of a jet Airbus 319 with a guided tour by professional Croatia Airline pilots, flight attendants and air mechanics.

The Little School of Aviation was attended by winners of the contest bearing the same name in which the most creative artistic and literary works on the theme of aviation were evaluated. The winners were the 4B Class of the Borovje Elementary School, with joint work submitted by Dominik Pađen and Ivan Mikloška, and the 8B Class of the Lučko Elementary School, which won participation in the Little School of Aviation with an essay written by Anica Perković. Each student's work nominated their entire class.

We're glad to welcome you to our Technical Center and acquaint you with the many professions which are necessary for the running of an airline company. We are sure you have heard many interesting and useful things from our air mechanics, pilots and flight attendants. Who knows, some of you might become our future colleagues one day, said company representatives to the students.

At the beginning of this entertaining educational tour, the students were informed of what the external parts of an aircraft were – the jet engine, wings and landing gear, and then later given a presentation by mechanics on their roles and responsibilities.

The Croatia Airlines' pilots shared some interesting facts about steering an aircraft and showed them the cockpit; afterwards, the students were placed in the passenger cabin seats where flight attendants told them about their job. The children showed great interest in the emergency instructions and scenarios which are usually given to travelers before departure. In order to make them feel as much as possible like regular passengers, the students were served a snack, which completed the extraordinary experience.

At the end of the project, students, teachers and representatives of Croatia Airlines were photographed in front of the Airbus 319.
