Bucharest in the Croatia Airlines' network of destinations
Bucharest, 22st May 2017
Croatia Airlines, Croatian flag carrier and member of Star Alliance, has included Bucharest in its destinations network for the first time in the company’s history, which was marked today with a ceremonial flight on the regular Zagreb – Bucharest route.
By the mid of October this year, passengers will be able to choose one of three flights per week between the Romanian and Croatian capitals - on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
-We are glad that Bucharest has become the 37th destination in our network of flights. We are now offering to our passengers the fastest travel option between Romania and Croatia and I believe that many of them will recognise the value of this route. I hope that our flights will help them discover natural, historical and cultural beauties of our capital cities and countries. The Romanian market has a large potential and I am convinced that our new direct flights will contribute to the strengthening of business links between our countries, as well as our friendship - said Krešimir Kučko, President&CEO of Croatia Airlines, at the ceremony organised at Bucharest Airport after the celebratory flight.
-I would like to welcome our new partners and congratulate them for choosing Bucharest as their newest destination. Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport is actually the main gate of Romania, processing over 10.98 million passengers in 2016. We are fully dedicated to deliver services of the highest quality to passengers and airlines and I am convinced that this is just the beginning of a long partnership between Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport and Croatia Airlines – said Valentin Iordache, Foreign Affairs Director Bucharest Airports.
-Croatia and Romania can take pride in outstanding political relations, friendship between peoples and minorities that are strong bridges of cooperation. The Croatia Airlines direct flight will certainly play a special role in strengthening the economic co-operation of our countries and will be an incentive for even greater number of tourists’ arrivals, business travel or visits of cultural workers and athletes and for the creation of new tourism products. We hope the flight will be extended after October 2017 and will become a regular direct flight connection between the capitals – said Davor Vidiš, Croatian Ambassador to Romania.
In addition to Bucharest, this season’s tourist package offers direct flights from Zagreb to Stockholm, Helsinki and Oslo, which makes the company an even stronger contributor to the development of tourism in the Republic of Croatia.
Due to the increased market capacity, this year Croatia Airlines expects an additional increase in passenger traffic of about 7 percent. The company plans to transport a record 2 million passengers by its aircraft.
This year, Croatia Airlines will directly fly to 39 destinations in 24 European countries.
The Croatian flag carrier's fleet consists of fourteen aircraft: six Airbus jet aircraft - four A319s and two A320s, six Dash 8-Q400 and two leased CRJ1000 aircraft.
