Croatia Airlines and Jadrolinija signed a business cooperation agreement
23rd July 2020, Zagreb
Croatia Airlines, Croatia’s flag carrier and a member of Star Alliance, and Jadrolinija, Croatia’s leading passenger ship company, signed a business cooperation agreement, based on which the two companies will try to further improve Croatia’s tourism offer in the coming period.
This collaboration aims to take advantage of the advantages that the two companies unquestionably have as important players on Croatia’s transport scene, and so offer Croatian citizens and tourists a unified service in the future, which will make Croatia and its destinations even more accessible in a simple and efficient way.
During the signing of the business cooperation agreement, the President and CEO of Croatia Airlines, Mr Jasmin Bajić, pointed out the following:
– The challenging environment in which we operate and everything that has in recent months further affected the entire Croatian and world economy pose new challenges that need to be met readily and strategically, so as to create competitive advantages in the future. That is why we’ve decided to join forces with Jadrolinija, the leading passenger ship company in the Republic of Croatia, whose fleet of ships and ferries complements our fleet of aircraft perfectly. Croatia Airlines connects Croatia with the world by air, Jadrolinija by sea, and together we can provide additional benefits to passengers during their travels. We believe that our collaboration will achieve the goals expected, while making our passengers and tourists even more satisfied, and the Republic of Croatia even more attractive and accessible.
The President and CEO of Jadrolinija, Mr David Sopta, said the following:
– Jadrolinija is particularly pleased to have entered into a business agreement with Croatia Airlines to bring Croatian islands closer to passengers arriving in Croatia by air. The number of passengers transported by our ships and ferries, which in the record year of 2019 reached 12.5 million, most certainly represents an enormous potential for both companies in terms of new travel offers. Currently based on reciprocal advertising, our collaboration will, in the very near future, enable passengers to purchase joint tickets. In other words, passengers will be able to buy a single ticket with which they’ll use the services of both Croatia Airlines and Jadrolinija. We believe that this partnership between Jadrolinija and Croatia Airlines, Croatia’s sea and air fleets, so to speak, will very soon contribute to mutually successful business results.
Croatia Airlines and Jadrolinija will jointly be developing a platform through which an intermodal transport service will be offered in the future, i.e. a combination of air and sea transport for travel from European airports to Croatian island destinations.
Given that the business activities of both companies are seasonal and largely related to tourism, creating additional space both for the companies themselves and for Croatia’s economy and tourism as a whole is more than welcome.
