Croatia Airlines flew a record number of passengers in 2018
9th January 2019, Zagreb
In 2018, a total of 2,168,863 passengers flew aboard the aircraft of Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national carrier and a member of Star Alliance, which is a record number of passengers in the history of the company and a 2% increase compared to 2017.
Last year, Croatia Airlines flew 1,642,285 passengers aboard its international flights, which is a 3 percent increase compared to 2017, while passenger traffic aboard regular domestic flights remained at the same level as in 2017 (in total, 526,578 passengers).
A record number of passengers was also recorded in the month of May, during which, for the first time since the launch of commercial flights in 1991, over 200,000 passengers were recorded. Almost 214,000 passengers flew aboard flights operated by Croatia Airlines, which is the largest number of passengers in May in the company’s history.
Due to positive passenger traffic trends, the company welcomed its two millionth passenger in 2018 16 days earlier than in 2017.
The said traffic results were achieved with the same number of aircraft in the fleet as in 2017 – four Airbuses 319, two Airbuses 320, six Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft, and two leased CRJ1000 aircraft during the tourist season (from May to October).
It is worth reminding that, last year, Croatia Airlines started flying to two new destinations, i.e., to Mostar throughout the year and to Dublin during the summer season, and introduced new seasonal routes between Dubrovnik and Munich, and Split and Copenhagen.
