Croatia Airlines has flown its 40 millionth passenger
Zagreb,12th November 2019
Croatia Airlines, Croatian flag carrier and a member of Star Alliance, has today recorded its 40 millionth passenger since its first flight.
The 40 millionth passenger is Ms Ivanka Čandrlić, flying on Croatia Airlines’ regular international flight OU417 from Frankfurt to Zagreb.
At a ceremony at the Zagreb Airport, which was organised immediately after landing in Zagreb at approximately 11 am, the CEO of Croatia Airlines, Mr Jasmin Bajić, awarded the 40 millionth passenger with two return business class tickets to one of Croatia Airlines’ international destinations of the passenger’s choice.
Croatia Airlines’ 40 millionth passenger was also awarded by Zagreb’s Franjo Tuđman International Airport with a gift voucher valued at € 100 redeemable in the airport’s duty free shop.
– We are delighted to have recorded our 40 millionth passenger in the year in which we’re celebrating our 30th anniversary. What makes this occasion even more special and what lends it great symbolic significance is the fact that our 40 millionth passenger was recorded on a flight connecting Zagreb and Frankfurt, which was also the route of Croatia Airlines’ first ever international flight in 1992, with which we started connecting Croatia with the world – said the CEO of Croatia Airlines, Mr Jasmin Bajić, at today’s ceremony.
Croatia Airlines operated its first commercial flight on 5th May 1991 from Zagreb to Split, while connecting Croatia with the world began on 5th April 1992, when the first international flight from Zagreb to Frankfurt was operated.
So far, Croatia Airlines has operated more than 610,000 flights, having flown 11,800,000 passengers on scheduled domestic flights, 25,300,000 passengers on scheduled international flights, and 2,900,000 passengers on non-scheduled (charter) flights.
During the winter timetable, Croatia Airlines is connecting Croatia directly with 15 European destinations. The company also operates flights to five Croatian airports.
The fleet of the Croatian flag carrier consists of 12 aircraft: four A319 Airbuses (144-seat capacity), two A320 Airbuses (174-seat capacity) and six Dash 8-Q400 turboprop aircraft (76-seat capacity).
