Croatia Airlines recorded its two millionth passenger within a calendar year for the first time in the company’s history
Zagreb, 5th December 2017
Croatia Airlines, the Croatian national carrier and a member of Star Alliance, recorded its two millionth passenger this year. The two millionth passenger was Nensi Kranjčević from Pula aboard our regular international flight OU481 on the Copenhagen - Zagreb route.
It is for the first time in the history of Croatia Airlines – that is, since the beginning of passenger transport in May 1991 – that a two millionth passenger has been recorded within a calendar year.
At a welcome reception at the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb, which was held immediately after the plane landed, Mr. Boris Kolka, Director of Sales and Marketing, presented the two millionth passenger with two return business class tickets to one of the international destinations of Croatia Airlines of the passenger’s choice. The welcome reception was also supported by the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb (MZLZ) by it having provided a gala cake and cocktail for the two millionth passenger and all those present at the welcome reception.
So far this year, Croatia Airlines has recorded a 10 percent increase in passenger traffic, with the number of international passengers having increased by 11 percent, and the number of domestic passengers by 7 percent compared to the same period of 2016. This growth of passenger traffic is the result of, amongst other things, the introduction of four new seasonal flight routes in May this year – from Zagreb to Stockholm, Oslo, Helsinki and Bucharest – with Croatia Airlines having continued its seasonal flights during the tourist season to Lisbon, Milan, Prague and St. Petersburg, which were introduced in 2016. Moreover, due to increased passenger interest this year, our seasonal flights to Barcelona and Lisbon were extended into the 2017/2018 winter timetable, that is, flights are operated even after the tourist season for the first time.
Also, due to positive passenger trends, the company flew this year’s millionth passenger in early July, the earliest in the history of the company.
In 2017, a total of over 2,100,000 passengers are expected to fly with Croatia’s national carrier, which will be a record-breaking number of passengers within a calendar year in the company’s history.
