Croatia Airlines introduced new seasonal flight routes to Stockholm, Bucharest, Helsinki and Oslo
Zagreb, 19th May 2017
Today, the introduction of Croatia Airlines’ new seasonal flight routes to Stockholm, Bucharest, Helsinki and Oslo was officially marked at the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb.
The ceremony, marking this year’s expansion of the Croatian national airline company’s network of destinations, was held at the new passenger terminal immediately before the first flight of Croatia Airlines from Zagreb to Stockholm. The ceremony was attended by Krešimir Vlašić, Chief Operating Officer of Croatia Airlines, and David Gabelica, a member of the Management Board of the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb. The first passengers to Stockholm were also greeted by the Swedish Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia, Mr. Lars Schmidt.
From mid-October this year, the aircraft of Croatia Airlines will directly connect Zagreb and the Swedish capital three times a week – on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
- We are glad to now be able to offer passengers from Croatia an even better choice of travel. For the second consecutive year, we have included four attractive European destinations in our network of destinations, with our placing this year’s emphasis on the Scandinavian market. Thanks to these new flight routes and an increase in the number of flights, we are expecting a growth in passenger traffic of about 7 percent, which will, in turn, contribute to the successful operations of the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb – said Krešimir Vlašić, Chief Operating Officer of Croatia Airlines, at the ceremony.
- On behalf of the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb, I would like to congratulate Croatia Airlines, our most important business partner, on their further expansion of their network of destinations, and this during this year’s summer flight schedule. This increase in the number of both flight routes and direct destinations from Zagreb certainly significantly contributes not only to a growth in our airport’s traffic volume, but also to the positioning of Zagreb as an attractive destination.
It is our pleasure to underline that this is only another step in the new stage of business development of our airport, which started with the opening of the new passenger terminal of the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb – said David Gabelica, a member of the Management Board of the Franjo Tuđman International Airport in Zagreb.
In addition to Stockholm, an aircraft of Croatia Airlines also flew to Bucharest this morning for the first time in the history of the company. Until mid-October, three flights a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – are available to passengers on this flight route.
Already on Sunday, 21st May 2017, Croatia Airlines is starting to connect Zagreb directly with two other European metropolises, Helsinki and Oslo, again for the first time in the company’s history. Seasonal flights to the Finnish capital are planned for Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings and to Oslo in the afternoon of the same days.
The company’s aircraft will fly directly to 39 destinations in 24 European countries this year, with as many as 105 flights operated during peak season. The Croatian national airline company will, accordingly, continue to contribute to the development and realisation of the tourism potential of the Republic of Croatia even more, consolidating at the same time its position as regional leader. Due to an expected growth in passenger traffic aboard our aircraft this year, flying a record-breaking 2,000,000 passengers is expected.
