Croatia Airlines first in the world with 127-seat Airbus A220-100
30 September 2025, Zagreb
Croatia Airlines today welcomed in Zagreb the seventh of a total of 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft, with which the company is renewing and modernizing its entire fleet.
This marks the arrival of the airline’s first A220-100, bearing the registration 9A-CAO and the name Dubrovnik. The aircraft arrived directly from the Airbus facility in Mirabel, Canada, just like the six new A220-300s, with a seating capacity of 149 passengers, that have already joined the fleet of Croatia’s flag carrier.
Jasmin Bajić, CEO of Croatia Airlines, said:
– We are proud to have become the fifth airline in the world to operate an Airbus A220-100, with the special distinction that our newest aircraft has the highest seating capacity of its type in-service. Our first A220-100, named after Dubrovnik, the jewel of Croatia’s tourism, will further strengthen our flight network, provide both passengers and crews with a first-class flying experience, and at the same time contribute to the more sustainable operations of our company. We thank our partners – Airbus as manufacturer and Air Lease Corporation as lessor – for their excellent cooperation and support in carrying out the renewal of our entire fleet, the largest strategic project in the history of Croatia Airlines.
The full fleet renewal project is scheduled for completion in 2027, when Croatia Airlines’ fleet will consist of 15 new Airbus A220 aircraft – 13 A220-300s, and two A220-100s.
