Croatia Airlines restoring international Zagreb-Mostar route
3rd May 2023, Zagreb – Croatia Airlines has today operated its inaugural flight from Zagreb International Airport to Mostar, which marks the restoration of scheduled international flights on the Zagreb-Mostar route by Croatia’s flag carrier, after flights were brought to a halt for three years due to the global epidemiological crisis.
Prior to the departure of Croatia Airlines’ Dash 8-Q400 aircraft for Mostar, a ceremony was held at Zagreb International Airport to mark the expansion of Croatia Airlines’ European network of destinations, during which, Nicolas Duthilleul, Zagreb International Airport board member, pointed out the following:
– We’re glad to see Croatia Airlines reintroducing direct flights between Mostar and Zagreb after three years. We believe that the Zagreb-Mostar route and the opening of a new market will contribute to the good passenger traffic results that Zagreb International Airport has been recording since the beginning of this year, in which Croatia Airlines plays a major role as an important partner.
Mostar is international destination no. 24 to which Croatia Airlines will be operating direct scheduled international flights, and European destination no. 16 with which Zagreb will be directly connected during this year’s tourist season. Flights from Zagreb to Mostar will be operated on Wednesdays at 11:25 a.m., and on Thursdays and Sundays in the evening at 11 p.m.
To mark the reintroduction of flights between Zagreb and Mostar, a ceremony was held at Mostar International Airport as well following the landing of Croatia Airlines’ Dash 8-Q400 aircraft in Mostar. During the ceremony, Mario Kordić, the Mayor of Mostar, Marko Đuzel, acting CEO at Mostar International Airport, and Jasmin Bajić, CEO and President of the Management Board of Croatia Airlines, addressed the audience.
– We are glad that Croatia Airlines has started reconnecting Mostar and Herzegovina with Zagreb. I thank everyone who supported this project. We have provided passengers travelling on this route with the fastest connection to the capital of Croatia. Moreover, Croatia Airlines’ membership of Star Alliance, the biggest airline alliance in the world, helps passengers from this region to connect with hundreds of destinations around the world. Besides improving and making the mobility of the population easier, I am convinced that the reintroduction of flights between Mostar and Zagreb will also contribute to the improvement of collaboration and relations between our two countries, including the growth of Mostar International Airport – stated Jasmin Bajić, CEO and President of the Management Board of Croatia Airlines.
– After three years, scheduled flights have finally returned to Mostar. This is extremely important to us, because, via Zagreb, we have a ticket to the rest of Europe. We’re hoping that this is just the beginning, and that next year we’ll boast an increase in the number of scheduled international flights – said Marko Đuzel, acting CEO at Mostar International Airport.
– Since taking office, we have defined Mostar International Airport as strategic in all our activities. Aware of the fact that good air connectivity significantly contributes to and acts as a stimulus to tourism, the economy, including all the other branches of it, we’ll continue to insist on establishing air routes to and from Mostar. The operation of scheduled international flights on the Mostar-Zagreb route is a big step forwards for us in setting up air connections with other European destinations. We’ll continue to work hard, and I am sure that in the coming period we will strengthen Mostar International Airport even more – said Mario Kordić, the Mayor of Mostar.
From Mostar to Zagreb, Croatia Airlines will be flying three times a week: on Mondays and Fridays at 6 a.m., and on Wednesdays at 1:55 p.m.
Return air tickets on this route are offered at promotional prices starting from 119 euros, and can be purchased either online on Croatia Airlines’ website www.croatiaairlines.com or by using Croatia Airlines’ mobile application.
