Third new Airbus A220 aircraft welcomed by Croatia Airlines in Zagreb
14 May 2025, Zagreb – Croatia Airlines, Croatia’s flag carrier and Star Alliance member, today welcomed in Zagreb its third new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with a seating capacity of 149 passengers. This marks the continuation of the airline’s fleet renewal project, which began last year with the introduction of the first two Airbus A220-300 aircraft in the fleet.
The aircraft, registered 9A-CAL and named Vukovar, is the third new aircraft to join the Croatia Airlines fleet, arriving directly from the Airbus facility in Mirabel, Canada. This delivery is the first of a total of three new Airbus A220-300 aircraft that will be handed over to Croatia Airlines by the leasing company Azorra, in accordance with the airline's order with Airbus.
– We are delighted and proud to welcome our third new Airbus A220 aircraft, which will bear the name of the heroic Croatian city of Vukovar. The arrival of each new aircraft – and we are expecting a total of five this year – enables us to expand our network of destinations, and optimise the flight timetable. We are especially pleased that this season we have introduced five new international routes, further contributing to the development of Croatia’s tourism and the national economy as a whole. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners at Azorra, the lessor of the Vukovar aircraft, and the manufacturer Airbus for their excellent collaboration. I believe we share in the collective satisfaction of today’s milestone – said Jasmin Bajić, President and CEO of Croatia Airlines.
